1.1. Introduction

Brief Introduction to the subject

Active Music Listening is a 6 ECTS credits course to be taken in the first semester. Theoretical and practical sessions are held throughout the semester.

This course is conceived as being one of the basics at the specialty in Music Education. It aims to provide students with the necessary tools for the development of perception and musical expression as well as its pedagogy and skills for an effective development in primary education. In addition, this course enhances student sensitivity for the use of music listening as a means of perception and expression in primary education level.

This is an education in and through music to adapt in primary education.

 

Content

Part I:   Auditory perception.

Part II:  An overview of different musical styles.

Part III: The musical audition at the school level. Active listening.

Part IV: Specialized educational literature.

 

2.1. Learning goals

To pass this course the student must demonstrate the following results...

1. To identify the different musical styles developed throughout the history of music until today. 

2. To demonstrate musical listening skills, identification and analysis of the various sound elements. 

3. To recognize and aurally discriminate different musical styles of a wide repertoire. 

4. To select musical pieces from the point of view of the hearing, rhythmic, melodic, harmonic and formal development, and psychological maturity of school children to design activities that arouse and enhance their skills. 

5. To organize a wide repertoire of musical works through music listening.
